Replacement of Historic Terracotta Cornice and Brick Parapet

 

After years of exposure to the weather, the terracotta corning at 21 Jay Street lost its ability to keep water out of the building. Upon gaining NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission approval, we waterproofed the parapet, and replaced the terracotta cornice with a glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) cornice. Special attention was given to matching the color range of the terracotta, so the new cornice did not “look” like a new cornice.
